Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR)
what is EMDR?
Healing Trauma at Its Root
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy for trauma and PTSD, helping the brain process distressing memories so they lose their emotional charge.
EMDR works by using bilateral stimulation — typically guided eye movements — to help the brain reprocess traumatic memories. Unlike traditional talking therapies, EMDR does not require you to talk in detail about your trauma. Instead, it helps your brain process the memory in a way that reduces its emotional impact.
EMDR is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) as an effective treatment for PTSD. Our EMDR practitioner, Yasmin Salim, is accredited by EMDR UK and has extensive experience working with trauma.
